2018 Bioengineering Road-Mapping Summit - New Organ Alliance

2018 Bioengineering
Road-Mapping Summit

March 5-7, 2018 at the

NASA AMES Research Park, Mountain View, California

[breadcrumb]

The Bioengineering Road-mapping Summit gathers select leaders from multi-disciplinary fields to identify and characterize the challenges and enabling technologies ahead in engineering tissues and organs for patients in need. The Summit is the third in the New Organ Alliance’s series of events defining a Roadmap to Ending the Organ Shortage. The Summit is a participatory program with presentations providing background on the state-of-the-art in each area of the road-map set between three core roundtable discussions sessions that will engage all participants in detailed conversations to identify and characterize the challenges ahead and define potential enabling technologies that may accelerate solutions to organ impairment and disease.

Outcomes from this Summit include:

  1. Updating specific Challenge Topics, Sub-Challenges, and Enabling Technology Topics within the Roadmap to Ending the Organ Shortage.
  2. Identifying and characterizing ways in which potential enabling technologies may accelerate solutions to the specific bioengineering challenge topics.
  3. Accelerating innovative partnerships that could help solve the Vascular Tissue Challenge.
  4. Preparing the first public version of the Road-mapping Report and online database.
  5. Identifying potential challenge topics for future prize opportunities to be pursued through the New Organ Alliance.
